Yosemite National Park - a hiker’s paradise! Clear streams, grassy meadows, giant sequoias, cascading waterfalls and granite domes and cliffs. Over the next five days we will visit some of the most famous and scenic areas of this diverse park.
From our southern base at the lovely Tenaya Lodge we will head deep into the famous Mariposa Grove. Although not the tallest or the oldest trees on earth, giant sequoias are the largest living organism by total mass. They are a sight to behold!
Day two takes us to Glacier Point, Sentinel Dome and Taft Point and our first views of the spectacular Yosemite Valley. Sentinel Dome offers a 360 degree view including El Capitan, Cloud’s rest, and the Clark range.
Yosemite Lodge, ideally located in the heart of the Valley, is our home for the next three nights and from here trails lead to either Vernal or Nevada Falls via the aptly-named Mist Trail. This trail has been voted one of the most scenic trails in the U.S. and rightly so.
A visit to Yosemite is not complete without spending time in Tuolumne Meadows, the largest sub-alpine meadow in the Sierra Nevada with beautiful lakes and peaks that rise to over 13,000 feet. One day’s hike will take us to our highest point of the week, visiting a chain of spectacular lakes at around 10,000 feet above sea level.
For our final day in the Park we take a classic Valley hike around Mirror Lake before having lunch and saying our goodbyes to this memorable scenery.
